The legendary MVP Bill Russell who led the Boston Celtics to multiple NBA championships was subjected to racism by Boston fans and his neighbors in a white suburb. He reported vandals often turned over his trash cans. The police blamed it on “raccoons” and did nothing. Russell then asked cops for a gun permit. The trash vandalism never happened again. While away, racists trashed his home, smashed his trophies and defecated in the beds. Nobody was ever charged.
