Smooth, sensuous sculpted surfaces.

Ice Age Erratica!

When New England’s foliage fades, a prehistoric promenade proceeds.

Glacial erratics remind us of the slow steady sweep of centuries.

The rock relay reappears each Spring in the 2,200 acre Lynn Woods Reservation North of Boston.

These big boulders don’t merit the VIP treatment. No shout outs in geology treatises.

Agassiz Rocks in Manchester, MA or The Bubble at Mount Desert Island, ME crop up in internet search engines.

But my anonymous bad boys are still rock stars.

A few neighborhood giants have names. Here’s Balanced Boulder:

And here’s Pirate Boulder:

How did they land here, perched precipitously, resting regally at awkward angles?

Geological studies tossed out theories down the centuries.
